Got chatting with one of the neighbours today. He mentioned his son’s 1991 Subaru   Brumby (AKA Scat) was on the market. I don’t need more utes.

I first spotted it and showed it to Oppo back in April.

It’s one of the AgQuip specials and has done just 280,000 km. Basically original and very straight. Mechanically okay it seems apart from a leak around the oil pump. Not much rego and I could probably get it for four grand but I have two utes already...

A ny Oz Oppos need a project?

oil pump leaks are merely 4 o’rings and a gasket on them.

I read Brumby and went right back to my youth of watching The Silver Brumby. Man they were long.

They’ve replaced the gasket twice already. Still leaks. Mind you they are farmers not specialist mechanics...

Neighbour also has a well worn and unregistered but  otherwise excellent Holden HQ ute he’s happy to let go of...

Most good bull bars aren’t designed to protect the vehicle from damage . They are designed to protect the radiator and other critical components so that the vehicle isn’t completely disabled in the event of an animal strike. It doesn’t always work...

To date, I have been involved in the total demolition of three bullbars due to animal strike. I n only one of those cases was the vehicle itself unscathed.
